Himachal’s Compassion Shines Bright: Over Rs. 154 Crore Pours in for Aapada Raahat Kosh 2023, Bringing Hope to the Devastated

In a heartwarming display of solidarity and compassion, Himachal Pradesh has witnessed an outpouring of support for those affected by the recent calamitous monsoon season. Individuals, organizations, and even young hearts have joined hands to contribute over Rs. 154 crore to the Aapada Raahat Kosh 2023, igniting a beacon of hope for the state’s recovery.

Soma Devi, a resident of Panthaghati, journeyed to meet Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, presenting her one-month pension of Rs. 61 thousand to aid the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Similarly, 15-year-old Avni Singh celebrated her birthday by donating Rs. 51 thousand towards the Aapada Raahat Kosh, showcasing the wholeheartedness of Himachali residents.

The monsoon deluge in July and August wreaked havoc, causing flash floods, landslides, and significant loss of life and property. However, in the face of this adversity, Himachal Pradesh has shown remarkable resilience. Thousands have extended their support, resulting in the creation of the Aapada Raahat Kosh-2023, designed to alleviate distress.

The state government, under Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s leadership, has been swift in taking measures to rescue those stranded and provide compensation for losses incurred by the public. With some assistance from the central government, the Chief Minister initiated the Aapada Raahat Kosh-2023, appealing to people to contribute generously. The response has been overwhelming.

Even Shaktipeeths in the state, including Mata Shree Chintpurni Trust, Shree Jwalamukhi Temple Trust, and others, have come forward to donate significant amounts. Various social organizations, educational institutions, local bodies, and government agencies have also made contributions. States like Rajasthan, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and Haryana have extended their support.

In a touching gesture, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, along with his cabinet colleagues, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, MLAs, and dedicated state employees, have donated their salaries to the relief fund. Furthermore, the public can contribute online through the Aapada Raahat Kosh 2023 portal, net banking, credit/debit cards, UPI IDs, QR codes, or by cheque or demand draft.

Chief Minister Sukhu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the donors, emphasizing that their contributions will play a pivotal role in aiding those in distress during this challenging period. With unity and coordinated efforts, Himachal Pradesh is poised to rise once again from the depths of this calamity, proving that compassion and resilience can conquer even the fiercest of storms.
