Dharamsala (Arvind Sharma) 24/4/24
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the results of the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) II 2023. Among the successful candidates, Rajat Kumar from Shahpur, Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, has excelled by securing the top position for the Indian Military Academy. Alongside him, Pawar Tanmay Gangadhar and Mayank Singh topped the exams for the Indian Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy, respectively.
The CDS Exam, conducted in September 2023, saw 197 candidates qualify for admission to prestigious military training institutions including the 157th (DE) Course at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun, the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala, and the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad for the No. 216 F(P) Pre-Flying Training Course.
Rajat Kumar’s achievement has drawn widespread attention and praise from across India, particularly notable as he comes from a modest background. His father, Pradeep Kumar, serves as a postman, while his mother, Baby Devi, is a housewife. The family’s joy is shared by the entire state, as expressed by his father, who remarked on the pride of Himachal Pradesh in his son’s success and his hope for Rajat’s bright future.
This accomplishment not only highlights Rajat’s dedication and hard work but also serves as an inspiration to many young individuals, demonstrating that success is attainable regardless of one’s background.
