The Diamond Jubilee Jamboree of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, held from January 28 to February 2, 2025, in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, came to a historic and grand conclusion, marking a week of celebration, learning, and outstanding achievements. The event, attended by over 16,000 Scouts and Guides from 27 states and union territories, along with contingents from all zones of Railways, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya Sangathan, and international participants from Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, was a testament to the global spirit of scouting and guiding.
Dr. K.K. Khandelwal, IAS (R), Chief National Commissioner of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, delivered an inspiring address to the enthusiastic participants, emphasizing the values of discipline, service, and leadership that scouting and guiding instill in young minds. He praised the Jamboree’s exceptional organization, environmental consciousness, and digital integration, calling it “the cleanest ever Jamboree, with no trace of dirt, litter, or plastic waste.”
Among the vibrant participants, Haryana’s contingent made a remarkable impact, comprising approximately 1,000 Scouts and Guides along with 120 Scout Leaders. Their active participation in various cultural and adventure activities, including camp craft, pioneering projects, folk dances, exhibitions, Rangoli-making, campfires, and an integration rally, showcased their talent and dedication. Haryana’s Scouts and Guides won numerous accolades for their outstanding performances, particularly in folk dance, which received an overwhelming response from the audience, further enriching the Jamboree’s cultural diversity.
One of the major highlights of the Jamboree was its record-breaking achievements. The event set seven world records, reinforcing its monumental success on a global scale. These records included:
- The largest gathering for Scouts and Guides prayers, salutes, promises, left-hand shakes, and reef knot-tying lessons at a single venue.
- The biggest formation of the Scouts and Guides logo using plants.
- The highest number of world records set at a single Scouts and Guides Jamboree.
Tamil Nadu’s Honorable Chief Minister, Thiru M.K. Stalin, graced the grand finale as the chief guest. Recognizing the impact of scouting and guiding in shaping responsible citizens, he announced a generous grant of ₹10 Crore for establishing a state-of-the-art Training Centre for Scouts and Guides. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized, “Scouting and Guiding is an excellent training in good citizenship, and these activities should be an integral part of every school curriculum.”
As the Bharat Scouts and Guides celebrated 75 years of community service, character-building, and youth empowerment through this Diamond Jubilee Jamboree, the event stood as a beacon of their commitment to fostering leadership and responsible citizenship among the youth. Beyond a celebration of its glorious past, this grand gathering has also paved the way for the future of scouting and guiding in India and across the world.
