HRTC Records Significant Revenue Increase, Benefiting Employees

Himachal Pradesh, November 4 – The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has reported a remarkable increase in revenue, a development that promises benefits for its employees in the coming days. On November 3, coinciding with Bhai Dooj, the corporation achieved a record-breaking earning of ₹3.10 crore in a single day, the highest in its history. This impressive figure includes ₹78 lakh in subsidies provided for free travel for women during the festival. If this subsidy had not been implemented, the earnings could have reached ₹4 crore, marking an unprecedented milestone for the corporation.

The management attributes this success to numerous changes made over the past year and a half, including the introduction of digital ticketing systems and online payment options, which have alleviated issues related to cash handling for passengers. Additionally, the convenience of online booking just hours before travel has contributed significantly to this increase in revenue. The corporation has also implemented daily monitoring of earnings, further optimizing its financial performance.

Following the Diwali festivities, HRTC operated an increased number of special buses, running 258 services on November 3 and 4 to facilitate passenger travel. This is in contrast to the 165 buses operated on October 29 and 30 for outbound journeys to destinations like Delhi, Chandigarh, and others. The expanded bus services after the festival catered to various regions, including Mandi, Kangra, Bilaspur, and others, ensuring that residents could return home smoothly.

HRTC Managing Director Rohan Chand Thakur emphasized that the record revenue of ₹3.10 crore is indicative of the digital transformation taking place within the corporation’s operations. Despite providing free services to women for Bhai Dooj, HRTC was still able to achieve this significant revenue. Thakur highlighted the management’s commitment to continuing these innovations and efforts to improve services for passengers, ensuring the corporation’s revenue growth and overall financial health in the future.
