IIT Mandi and Chhattisgarh Technical University Forge Strategic Academic and Research Alliance

The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi), situated in the picturesque landscapes of Himachal Pradesh, has announced a significant step forward in academic and research collaboration by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University, Bhilai. This partnership marks a strategic alliance aimed at enhancing the academic and research capabilities of both institutions.

The MoU signing ceremony, held on March 26, 2024, saw the coming together of two eminent figures in the academic world: Prof. M.K. Verma, Vice-Chancellor of Chhattisgarh Vivekanand Technical University, Bhilai, and Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director of IIT Mandi. This event not only symbolized the formalization of their partnership but also set the stage for future collaborative endeavors.

Dr. Kumar Sambhav Pandey, Registrar of IIT Mandi, shared his insights on the collaboration, stating, “In line with its commitment to fostering excellence through collaboration, IIT Mandi continues to actively seek partnerships with esteemed institutions such as Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University, Bhilai. By nurturing a culture of collaboration, IIT Mandi aims to contribute significantly to the advancement of science, technology, and society.”

The collaboration outlined in the MoU includes several key initiatives aimed at bolstering academic and research activities between the two institutions. Notable among these is the facilitation of faculty and staff visits, which aims to enrich scientific knowledge and information exchange. This agreement also lays the groundwork for the establishment of joint postdoctoral and PhD programs, where collaborative supervision will drive academic and research excellence to new heights.

Moreover, both institutions have agreed to provide access to their respective research facilities under mutually agreed terms, enhancing the scope and quality of research outputs. The alliance will further extend to joint research initiatives, including participation in nationally and internationally funded projects, and the organization of joint seminars, workshops, conferences, and training programs. Such activities are designed to offer students comprehensive exposure to the diverse facilities and resources available at both institutions, thereby fostering an environment of learning and innovation.

This strategic partnership between IIT Mandi and Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University, Bhilai, underscores the importance of collaboration in the pursuit of academic and research excellence, promising a future of impactful contributions to science, technology, and society at large.
