Jalandhar Police Returns Seized Properties Worth ₹13 Crore to Rightful Owners

In a significant step towards fostering public trust, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police returned seized properties worth over ₹13 crore to their rightful owners during a special event titled “Arpan Samaroh.” Held at Police Lines in Jalandhar under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, the initiative marked a milestone in strengthening police-community relations.
Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav highlighted the initiative’s success, revealing that 413 vehicles, 85 mobile phones, jewellery, household goods, and other items from 583 criminal cases registered in the past year were handed back to their owners. The event also saw the return of 100 lost smartphones, valued at ₹20 lakh, traced through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.
The police ensured the presence of 14 jurisdictional Station House Officers (SHOs) and SHOs of the Women’s Police Station to facilitate the seamless return of the items. According to CP Swapan Sharma, the initiative reflects the Punjab Police’s commitment to justice, trust, and community welfare by ensuring stolen or confiscated items are returned promptly to their owners.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the police’s proactive efforts. Baljeet Kaur, who recovered her stolen smartphone, shared her appreciation, saying, “I had lost hope of getting my phone back, but thanks to the Jalandhar Police, I have it again.” Others, like Manjit Singh, Jyoti, Rakesh Kumar, and Arvind Kumar, also commended the initiative.
The timely return of seized properties ensures their usability and preserves their value, emphasizing the Punjab Police’s dedication to effective public service. This landmark event not only restored assets but also reinforced the trust of citizens in the law enforcement system.
