 Mahinder Bhagat Files Nomination for Jalandhar West By-Election Amidst Festivities

Mahinder Bhagat, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate, formally filed his nomination papers for the Jalandhar West Assembly by-election. Having defected from BJP to AAP in 2023, Bhagat’s candidacy marks a significant shift in local political dynamics. His nomination coincided with Kabir Jyanti celebrations, which added a cultural dimension to the event.

Bhagat was accompanied by prominent AAP leaders including Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, Minister Aman Arora, AAP MP Dr. Rajkumar Chabbewal, and AAP leader Pawan Tinu. The presence of AAP leader Rajwinder Kaur Thiara further underscored the party’s unified front in supporting Bhagat’s candidacy.

Before filing his nomination, Bhagat paid respects at the Kabir temple in Bhargo Camp and participated in the Shobha Yatra, resonating with local sentiments. He also sought blessings from his father, former state minister Chunni Lal Bhagat, highlighting familial and community ties crucial in Punjab’s political landscape.
