JP Dalal: A Distinguished Leader in Haryana Politics
JP Dalal, the MLA from Loharu, former Agriculture Minister, and the current Finance Minister of Haryana, is a well-known name in Haryana’s politics. Born in 1956 in Ghusakani village, Bhiwani district, JP Dalal has established a significant presence in the political landscape of Haryana through his dedication to public service. He graduated in 1978 and entered politics in 1986, joining hands with Surendra Singh, the son of former Haryana Chief Minister Chaudhary Bansi Lal. In 1996, he played a key role in forming the Haryana Vikas Party with Chaudhary Bansi Lal. Until 2004, he held various positions within the party, contributing to social and political endeavors. His long political journey with Surendra Singh ended abruptly with Singh’s untimely demise, leaving Dalal to forge ahead alone. In the 2019 elections, he contested from Loharu on a BJP ticket and won by a record margin, becoming the state’s Agriculture Minister.
As the Agriculture Minister of Haryana, JP Dalal served the people of the state for over four years. Being a farmer’s son and a farmer himself, he had a deep understanding of farmers’ issues and worked tirelessly to address their demands. His efforts have significantly contributed to the well-being of Haryana’s farmers, and one of the notable achievements under his leadership was gaining global recognition for millet. Due to the initiatives of the BJP government and his persistent efforts, the international market for millet was established. In his first speech as the Agriculture Minister, Dalal assured the public that he would return their trust manifold and ensure that officials from Chandigarh would come to address their issues. This promise has been kept to the letter.
Known as a dedicated and hardworking leader, JP Dalal spends 24 hours a day serving the farmers and the common people of Haryana. Under his leadership, not only Loharu but the entire state has progressed in agriculture and animal husbandry. Setting a target to achieve ₹20,000 crores in milk production, Dalal promoted the Murrah breed through artificial insemination and ensured better medical facilities for animals by constructing large veterinary hospitals in each district. He also invested crores to improve drinking water facilities, ensuring clean water reached every household. The micro-irrigation scheme introduced irrigation tanks that transformed barren lands with saline water in the Loharu region into fertile grounds, even promoting shrimp farming. Haryana received the best state award in agriculture from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, thanks to these initiatives.
JP Dalal, fondly known as the pride of Loharu, is committed to serving the people, keeping his doors open 24/7 for the residents of his constituency. He actively participates in their joys and sorrows, considering them as his extended family since 2009. His primary goal is public service, and he aims to continue this mission for life. Notably, any public welfare scheme in the state often begins in Loharu, and he has made the journey of Chandigarh officials to the common people considerably shorter. His popularity extends beyond Loharu, resonating throughout the entire state of Haryana.
