Kejriwal Vows to Eliminate Unemployment in Delhi Within Five Years

In a bold announcement just weeks before the Delhi Assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal pledged to eradicate unemployment in the capital within the next five years. This commitment comes as part of AAP’s broader strategy to address key issues such as education, healthcare, electricity, water supply, and infrastructure improvements that have been central to their governance over the past decade.

Kejriwal emphasized his personal engagement with the electorate, stating that he has been actively visiting neighborhoods and meeting residents to understand their concerns. He expressed deep sorrow over the plight of educated youth who remain unemployed and highlighted the urgent need to provide job opportunities tailored to their qualifications. “The most affected families are those suffering from unemployment,” he remarked, underscoring that addressing this issue will be his top priority.

The Chief Minister noted that many young people, unable to find jobs, may fall into negative influences and criminal activities, making it challenging for them to reintegrate into society. To combat this, Kejriwal has tasked a dedicated team—including prominent leaders like Atishi, Manish Sisodia, Gopal Rai, and Raghav Chadha—with developing a comprehensive roadmap for employment generation.

Drawing on past successes, Kejriwal pointed out that during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many jobs were lost, his government managed to create employment opportunities for 1.2 million children through various initiatives. He also highlighted achievements in Punjab, where AAP has reportedly provided over 48,000 government jobs and facilitated private sector employment for more than 300,000 youth in just two years.

Kejriwal’s promise aligns with AAP’s ongoing efforts to secure a third consecutive term in Delhi amid fierce competition from both the BJP and Congress. With voting scheduled for February 5, 2025, AAP is keenly aware that any gains by Congress could inadvertently strengthen the BJP’s position—a concern echoed by party insiders who recognize this election as one of their toughest yet.

As the political landscape heats up, Kejriwal’s focus on job creation is expected to resonate with voters seeking stability and economic opportunity. His administration’s track record in education and health reform may bolster confidence among constituents as they head to the polls.
