Major Administrative Reshuffle in Punjab: 38 IAS, PCS Officers Transferred
In a significant administrative shake-up in Punjab on Thursday, the state government transferred deputy commissioners (DCs) of 10 districts and four Municipal Corporation commissioners. A total of 38 IAS officers and one PCS officer have been reassigned to new positions across the state.
Key changes include Showkat Ahmad Parray, who has been posted as the DC of Bathinda, moving from Patiala, while Sakshi Sahney takes over as the new DC of Amritsar. Preeti Yadav, previously the DC of Ropar, has been transferred to Patiala, and Jitendra Jorwal has been posted as the DC of Ludhiana.
Rajesh Dhiman, the former DC of Ferozepur, has taken over as the DC of Nawanshahr, with Deepshika Sharma stepping in as the new DC of Ferozepur. Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu is now the DC of Fazilka, while Himanshu Jain assumes the role of DC in Ropar, and Sona Thind has been appointed the DC of Fatehgarh Sahib. Sangrur’s new DC is Sandeep Rishi.
Municipal Corporations have also seen changes, with Rajat Oberoi becoming the new Commissioner of Patiala, while T Benith takes over in Mohali. Aaditya Dachalwal has been assigned as the Commissioner for Ludhiana, and Gulpreet Singh Aulakh is the new Commissioner of Amritsar.
Among other key appointments, Krishan Kumar has been given additional charge of the Taxation department, previously held by Vikas Pratap. Alok Shekhar now oversees the Justice department, and the administrative charge of the Public Works Department (PWD) has been handed to Special Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Ravi Bhagat.
Gurpreet Singh Khaira has been appointed Director, Local Government, while Anindita Mitra, who has returned from deputation in Chandigarh, has been posted as Secretary, Cooperation. Priyank Bharti, the former head of the PWD, now leads the Science, Technology, and Environment department.
In the Tourism and Cultural Affairs department, Malwinder Singh Jaggi has taken over as Secretary, with Amrit Singh named as the new Director. Paramjit Singh is the new Director of the Rural Development department, and Jaspreet Singh has been appointed the State Transport Commissioner. Varjeet Singh Walia joins the Chief Minister’s Office as Additional Principal Secretary.
This reshuffle comes as part of the government’s efforts to streamline administration and enhance efficiency across various departments.
