Major Development Announcements by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at Dussehra Festival in Sunni

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the three-day district-level Dussehra festival in Sunni, district Shimla. On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, he sought the blessings of the deities and extended his wishes for happiness and prosperity in the state.
During his address, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu not only felicitated the people on Dussehra but also made several important announcements. He declared that Sunni Hospital would be upgraded to a 100-bed hospital to make it an exemplary healthcare institution. Additionally, he assured the appointment of specialists to better serve the local population. The Chief Minister also promised to allocate sufficient funds for the construction of a Mini Secretariat and the establishment of an SDM office in Sunni.
Moreover, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced the opening of the Sub-Division of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) in Shoghi, Shimla Rural Assembly constituency.
The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 18 development projects totaling Rs. 174 crore for the Shimla Rural Assembly segment. This included the dedication of a Rs. 4.69 crore Government ITI Building in Jalog, a Rs. 3.71 crore Home Guard building, and an Rs. 88 lakh Government Treasury Building in Sunni.
Additionally, he laid the foundation stones for various road projects, including the Rs. 5.42 crore Kadharghat to Palag Serikadi road, the Rs. 4.29 crore Mandhorghat to Jamog via Bhargav road, and several other significant road projects.
Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also initiated the foundation stone-laying ceremonies for educational and water supply projects, including a Rs. 50.56 crore Government Polytechnic Institute in Basantpur, augmentation of the Sunni Water Supply Scheme, and Lift Irrigation Schemes.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister emphasized the state government’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of Himachal Pradesh in power projects. He noted that the State Government had taken a firm stance by issuing notices to SJVNL for starting work on various hydropower projects without signing the implementation agreement. He also highlighted the importance of Local Area Development Fund (LADA) and GST provisions for these projects.
The Chief Minister also discussed the significant losses incurred by the state due to heavy rainfall during the monsoon season. He mentioned the special relief package being provided to the disaster-affected people, including increased compensation for completely damaged houses, free electricity and water connections, and cement at government rates for housing construction.
Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed his commitment to the rehabilitation efforts and urged the central government to release funds to the state promptly. He highlighted the state government’s swift response to the disaster, which included restoring essential services in record time.
The Chief Minister also touched upon the need for quality education and specialized health services in the state. The government’s focus on opening Rajiv Gandhi Government Day Boarding Schools in each assembly segment was mentioned, emphasizing the government’s dedication to bringing the state’s economy back on track.
In closing, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu recalled his previous association with the people of Sunni and awarded Rs. 50,000 to students who presented a cultural program during the event.
Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for dedicating various developmental projects for the area. He also highlighted the financial challenges faced by the state and the significant losses incurred during the disaster.
During the event, a local resident, Dinesh Chauhan, contributed Rs. 51,000 towards the Aapda Rahat Kosh.
