Major Drug Bust in Nurpur: 96 Boxes of Illicit Liquor Seized, Two Arrested

In a significant crackdown on illegal drug smuggling, Superintendent of Police Nurpur (Himachal) Ashok Ratan announced today that authorities successfully conducted a raid at Jatt Palace in Mukam Raja Ka Talab, under the jurisdiction of Raihan Police Station. Acting on a tip-off, the police seized 96 boxes of country liquor, totaling 1,150 bottles (8,62,500 ML).
The raid, carried out on 22 October 2024, targeted the residence of Praveen Kumar, son of Gyan Chandav, and Tilak Raj, son of Dhaniya Ram—both residents of Raja Ka Talab, Kangra District, Himachal Pradesh.
An FIR (No. 08/24) has been registered against the accused under Section 39(1) of the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act at Raihan Police Station, and both individuals have been taken into custody. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case to uncover further details about the smuggling operation.
Superintendent Ashok Ratan praised the efforts of his team and emphasized the police’s commitment to cracking down on illegal activities in the district.
