Markfed Ensures Smooth Procurement Operations in Punjab Mandis
Markfed, led by MD Girish Dayalan, visited mandis in Ludhiana, Moga, and Ferozepur to ensure hassle-free procurement for farmers.
-
Ludhiana: Dayalan, along with Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Ms. Sakshi Sawhney, found the district administration working efficiently. Payments were being made even before the 48-hour norm, with overall payment exceeding 120% of the amount due. Agencies were directed to maintain this promptness.
-
Moga: A joint visit with Deputy Commissioner Moga, Sh. Kulwant Singh, revealed smooth procurement but a requirement for additional Bardana, which will be provided by FCI. Lifting of grains from mandis was also emphasized to be expedited to create space for the compressed crop cycle.
-
Ferozepur: In Ferozepur, Deputy Commissioner Sh. Rajesh Dhiman accompanied Dayalan. Here too, lifting was underway, but efforts were directed to further expedite it due to high arrivals. Staff was instructed to prioritize lifting to avoid congestion in mandis.
Overall, good crop quality and timely purchase were observed across the mandis. The produce met the 12% moisture requirement, and cleaning and bagging were efficient.
