“Massive Seizures Worth Rs. 7.85 Crore Made During Himachal Pradesh Poll Enforcement”
In the wake of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) imposition for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections and bye-elections in Himachal Pradesh, law enforcement agencies have made significant seizures totaling Rs. 7,85,51,662. According to a spokesperson from the State Election Department, the seizures include illicit liquor, cash, drugs, and jewellery.
The police department alone has confiscated cash amounting to Rs. 24.59 lakh along with gold and silver ornaments weighing 65 grams valued at Rs. 3.35 lakh. Additionally, the excise department has seized a staggering 381,343 liters of illicit liquor, estimated to be worth Rs. 5.51 crore.
Furthermore, various agencies have impounded 32 kilograms of Charas valued at Rs. 64.18 lakh and 1.47 kilograms of heroin worth Rs. 1.03 crore. These seizures underscore the stringent enforcement measures undertaken to ensure free and fair elections in the state.
