Melodic performances mark Pracheen Kala Kendra’s monthly ‘baithak’

The Pracheen Kala Kendra (PKK), an organization extensively engaged in the promotion and propagation of art and culture since 1956 when it was founded, organized another episode of Parampara (tradition) a regular monthly series here on Saturday.The participants were the students of the Kendra, who presented various scintillating
performances to showcase their talent.

As many as 30 students, between the age group of five and 75 years, performed at the programme, which included vocal renditions they had nuanced under the astute guidance of their teacher-mentor Shivani Angrish.

The programme was organized at the M.L. Koser Indoor Auditorium with Kendra’s Registrer Dr Shobha Koser in presence.

Students began with an invocatory Saraswati Sholaka, which set the stage in tone for more spectacular presentations lined up. They moved on to present a soulful ‘bhajan’ by junior students “Tan ke tambure mein do sanso ke taar bolen…“

Up next was an engaging group presentation – a classical composition “Naman kar chatur shree guru charna…“, which received full-throated appreciation from the audience. Students also doled out ‘raag, Bhopali in a typical tradition, which was followed by a mesmerizing ghazal “Salona sa sajan hai aur main hu… “ by Shubham Rana. Another famous and an all-times favorite ‘bhajan’ “Achyutam Keshavam Krishan Damodaram… “was presented by a junior category of students, between five years of age in their honey-toned voice. The next was a classical-based Khayal Bandish “Aa re aali piya bin sakhi…” based on raag Yaman presented with utmost precision.

The musical evening ended with a popular Surdas ‘bhajan’ “Deenan ke dukh haran dev…” by senior category of students of the Kendra.

Dr. Shobha Koser on the occasion thanked the audience for stealing time off to be a part of the monthly musical soiree. She also gave her blessings to the participants and wished them good luck for their future endeavours.
