Nadaun: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today inaugurated the Mini Secretariat in his home assembly segment of Nadaun, marking a significant achievement for the Congress government. With a total expenditure of Rs 12.30 crore, the Mini Secretariat aims to streamline administrative operations by consolidating essential services under one roof.
During his interaction with the media, Chief Minister Sukhu took the opportunity to criticize the previous BJP government, stating that they had inaugurated the building ahead of the assembly elections but failed to make it fully functional. In contrast, the Congress government, within just six months of assuming power, successfully initiated operations at the Mini Secretariat. Chief Minister Sukhu highlighted that the foundation stone for the Mini Secretariat was laid almost a decade ago during the tenure of the previous Congress government. However, subsequent neglect by the BJP government left the project incomplete.
Currently on a five-day visit to Hamirpur district, Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized his government’s commitment to prioritize addressing the grievances of the people. He contrasted this approach with that of the previous BJP government, which he accused of conducting public events, known as ‘Janmanch,’ to publicly belittle and mistreat officers, solely to demonstrate their power. Chief Minister Sukhu assured the public that he would continue to visit different areas of the state to personally address the problems faced by the people.
Responding to a query about the approval for the establishment of a Medical College in Hamirpur, Chief Minister Sukhu clarified that it was the result of his request to the then Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, who granted approval on March 3, 2014. He dismissed the claim made by BJP’s National President, Jagat Prakash Nadda, regarding the BJP government at the center providing approval for the medical college in Hamirpur, calling it baseless. Chief Minister Sukhu further revealed that the then Central Government had allocated Rs. 189 crore for the project, and the present state government had released Rs. 150 crore to expedite its construction.
Chief Minister Sukhu highlighted the government’s advocacy for the rightful rights of Himachal Pradesh from neighboring states. He urged BJP leaders in the state to take up these issues with their national counterparts instead of remaining silent. He expressed gratitude to former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar for his support and reiterated his commitment to fighting for the rights of Himachal Pradesh, including a 7.19 percent share in Chandigarh and the state’s royalty in Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) projects.
Regarding the apple industry, Chief Minister Sukhu stated that the state government was making sincere efforts to ensure orchardists receive a remunerative price for their produce. He confirmed discussions with the Horticulture Minister on this matter and assured that the government would soon make an appropriate decision.
The inauguration of the Mini Secretariat in Nadaun stands as a testament to the Congress government’s commitment to improving administrative efficiency and addressing the needs of the people of Himachal Pradesh.
