Nalagarh Leads with Highest Voter Turnout in Himachal Pradesh Bypolls
Nalagarh Assembly Constituency (AC) recorded the highest voter turnout of nearly 78% in the recent Himachal Pradesh bypolls, followed by Hamirpur at 67.7% and Dehra at 65.42%. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Maneesh Garg thanked the voters, including the youth, elderly, women, and persons with disabilities, for their enthusiastic participation in the democratic process. The high voter turnout was attributed to the concerted efforts of the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Himachal Pradesh Election Department, as well as the increased awareness among the people of the state towards their right to vote. The bypolls were held to decide the fate of 13 candidates, including Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s wife Kamlesh Thakur, who was contesting from the Dehra constituency. The final voter turnout figures will be released after the return of all polling parties and scrutiny of documents. The election process was closely monitored through live webcasting of 315 polling stations, and no untoward incidents were reported during the bypolls.
