New Air Services from Dharamshala to Begin on March 30, 2025

Dharamshala, January 4 (Arvind Sharma)

Starting March 30, 2025, new air services will be launched from Dharamshala’s Gaggal Airport to cater to the growing number of passengers. These services aim to enhance connectivity by adding three new destinations—Noida, Jaipur, and Dehradun—to the current flight network that links Dharamshala to Delhi, Chandigarh, and Shimla.

Dhirendra Singh, Airport Director of Gaggal Airport, announced, “We are expanding our operations to meet passenger demand and will operate in two shifts from March 30, enabling uninterrupted flights from sunrise to sunset.”

Currently, Gaggal Airport operates six daily flights, which are expected to increase to ten during the summer. To accommodate evening services, efforts are underway to increase staff across departments and strengthen security personnel in collaboration with Himachal Police.

Singh highlighted plans for the airport’s expansion, allowing larger aircraft like Airbus 320 and Boeing models to land. This upgrade will facilitate connections to metro cities such as Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Ahmedabad, potentially reducing travel costs for passengers.

Notably, air travelers have long demanded connectivity to Amritsar and Buddhist pilgrimage sites such as Bodh Gaya in Bihar. Recently, His Holiness the Dalai Lama discussed linking Gaggal Airport with these Buddhist destinations, aligning with regional tourism aspirations.

These developments mark a significant boost to air connectivity, tourism, and economic growth in the region.
