NHRC Monitor visited Lala Lajpat Rai zila evm mukt sudhar greh at Dharamsala

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Special Monitor Balkrishna Goyal, during his stay in Kangra district, visited Lala Lajpat Rai District and Free Correctional Home in Dharamsala on Sunday and took stock of the facilities being provided to the prisoners and the arrangements available for them. He directed the officers to treat the prisoners well and consider their complaints sympathetically.

An administrative officer of the district said that during this period, he along with Jail Superintendent Vikas Bhatnagar, CDPO Ramesh Jagwan and other jail staff inspected various barracks and visited various business units established for prisoners under the Free Correctional Home. He appreciated the efforts being made for the prisoners under the Free Correctional Home.

According to the government press release issued here today, Shri Goyal also inspected the women’s wing, the kitchen and the health facilities available there. He inquired about the availability of medical facilities to undertrials and prisoners and directed the administration to provide good health services.

Goyal said that efforts are being made by NHRC to stop human rights violations. During this time, he had a free discussion with the prisoners and listened to their suggestions and problems in detail and asked them to remain positive and try to improve their lives.
