Celebrating the 99th Birth Anniversary of Padma Shri Late Nek Chand: Vibrant Events Unfold at Rock Garden Memorial

The commemoration of the 99th Birth Anniversary of Padma Shri Late Nek Chand commenced at the Nek Chand Memorial in Rock Garden on December 15, 2023. Illuminated by the lighting of Diyas and floral tributes at the wax statue of Late Shri Nek Chand, the event featured musical performances and diverse cultural acts by Bazigar, Nachar, Been-Jogi, Behrupia, and Nagada artists from across the country. The celebrations, graced by Chief Guest Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, continued with enthusiasm, blending regional culture promotion and festivities. The festivities extend until December 17, 2023, featuring a public musical chairs program and Millet Mela at Phase-III in Rock Garden. Organized by the Rock Garden Society, Millet Mela aims to celebrate the International Year of Millets 2023, fostering awareness in honor of Padma Shri Late Nek Chand. The evenings will be adorned with musical performances by the Tourism Department, Chandigarh Administration, in collaboration with Chandigarh Tourism Department and North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC).
