Patiala Police Launch “Mission Sahyog” to Strengthen Fight Against Drugs
In a robust effort to eliminate the drug menace from the region, Patiala Police launched the innovative “Mission Sahyog” on Sunday, aligning with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directives to bolster the anti-drug campaign. The initiative aims to enhance coordination between the police and the public in a united front against drugs. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Patiala Range Harcharan Singh Bhullar and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Patiala Varun Sharma spearheaded the launch, holding a meeting with the Police Sahyogi committee members, which included village Sarpanches and dedicated community enthusiasts, in the presence of sub-divisional Police Officers and Station House Officers (SHOs). The state government has implemented a three-pronged strategy—Enforcement, Deaddiction, and Prevention (EDP)—to eradicate drugs. DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar emphasized that Mission Sahyog provides a dynamic platform for the Police-Public Coordination Committee to engage in cooperative activities against drug-related issues, fostering a drug-free environment through community involvement. SSP Varun Sharma elaborated on the initiative’s mission and vision during a comprehensive feedback session, underscoring the importance of collective action and ensuring every community member’s role is vital. The Patiala Police has established a feedback system, encouraging the public to provide confidential information or tips, with assurances of rewards for information leading to drug recoveries. The officers reiterated the strategic importance of community participation in combating drug abuse, pledging to work alongside community members to make Patiala a safer, drug-free district. The repercussions of this initiative are far-reaching, potentially leading to a significant reduction in drug-related issues, fostering a stronger police-community relationship, and setting a precedent for other regions to adopt similar collaborative approaches.
