PGIMER 36th Convocation: 218 Medals and 1775 Degrees Presented
PGIMER held its 36th Convocation on November 6, 2023, at Bhargava Auditorium. Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, and Prof. K.K.Talwar, Padma Bhushan Awardee and Former Director of PGIMER, was the Guest of Honour.
A total of 218 medals were presented to meritorious students, and 1775 degrees were conferred to graduates in various medical streams.
In her Convocation Address, Dr. Pawar lauded PGIMER for its rigorous academic curriculum, high standards of patient care, and enabling environment for research and innovation. She also commended PGIMER for catering to over 25 lakh patients last year and its role in changing the healthcare landscape of the country.
The Minister highlighted the Government’s initiatives in the healthcare sector, such as Ayushman Bharat, Jan Aushidhi Kendra’s, and Health & Wellness Centres. She also spoke about the Government’s impetus on ‘Medical Tourism’ and the aim to provide quality medical education in India.
Dr. Pawar delved deep into the essentials of being a successful clinician, deciphering the term ‘doctor’ as the combination of qualities of Deep feelings, Observing eyes, Caring heart, Trained hands, Open mind, and Real Human.
Prof. Vivek Lal, Director of PGIMER, highlighted the institute’s accomplishments in his address. He mentioned that PGIMER has set high ideals of medical professionalism and has become the first port of call for patients with many serious and chronic illnesses. He also enumerated the institute’s achievements under Ayushman Bharat, organ transplant programme, and Kayakalp awards.
The 36th Convocation of PGIMER was a momentous occasion, celebrating the academic excellence and achievements of its students.
