PM Modi Empowers Farmers: Haryana CM Acknowledges Financial Support

Chandigarh, June 18 – Haryana Chief Minister, Shri Nayab Singh, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for empowering farmers across the nation, significantly transforming their lives. Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, ₹335 crore was transferred directly to the accounts of nearly 1.6 million farmers in Haryana today. This brings the total disbursed amount to ₹5,693 crore over 17 installments since the scheme’s inception, with previous disbursements totaling ₹5,358 crore.

CM Singh observed the PM’s “PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana” event in Varanasi live from Karnal. Addressing farmers, he emphasized the significance of the day, coinciding with the auspicious Nirjala Ekadashi, highlighting the PM’s commitment to farmer prosperity by transferring ₹20,000 crore to 92.6 million farmers across India as part of the 17th installment of the scheme.

Initiated in the 2018-19 fiscal year, the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana provides ₹6,000 annually to eligible small and marginal farmer families in three equal installments via DBT. CM Singh praised the PM’s issuance of agricultural Sakhi certificates to over 30,000 self-help groups, reflecting his vision of enhancing farmer prosperity. In Haryana, this vision is realized through the implementation of central schemes such as the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, Kisan Credit Card Yojana, PM Kisan Mandhan Yojana, and livestock insurance schemes.

Haryana is committed to PM Modi’s vision of increasing farmer income and promoting organic farming through initiatives like the Soil Health Card Scheme and the Traditional Agricultural Development Scheme. Alongside central schemes, Haryana’s government has launched effective initiatives to support farmers from seed to market. Subsidies are provided for quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and agricultural machinery. In case of crop loss due to natural calamities, compensation and crop insurance are available.

Highlighting recent efforts, CM Singh noted the disbursement of ₹130.88 crore to farmers affected by floods in July 2023. Over his 9.5-year tenure, ₹12,750 crore has been disbursed as compensation for crop loss due to natural disasters, a significant increase compared to the ₹1,158 crore distributed by the previous government over a decade.

Under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, 28.99 lakh farmers have received claims totaling ₹8,100 crore since the 2016 Kharif season, making it more farmer-friendly than previous insurance schemes. For uninsured farmers, ₹15,000 per acre is provided as compensation for natural disaster-induced crop damage.

The Haryana government ensures direct payments to farmers for every grain procured post-harvest, making it the only state to purchase 14 crops at MSP. The Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana mitigates price fluctuations for horticultural crops and ensures profitable prices for millet farmers. So far, 12,092 farmers have received ₹33.26 crore under this scheme.

Additionally, five one-time loan relief schemes have been launched, waiving interest and penalties on loans for 9,46,269 farmers, totaling ₹1,896.69 crore. Small farmers are provided with adequate crop loans, and livestock farmers receive timely working capital through Animal Farmer Credit Cards. To date, 1,57,000 such cards have been distributed.

CM Singh emphasized the need for progressive agricultural practices and self-managed marketing to enhance farming profitability, ensuring increased farmer income without additional strain on natural resources.
