Police Crack Down on Drug Mafia in Nurpur, Seize Illegal Liquor During ongoing Lok Sabha Elections

In a significant crackdown amid the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, the Police District Nurpur successfully intercepted an illegal liquor shipment during an anti-drug operation early Saturday morning. The operation took place at Kotla police station in Jwali Sub Division , where officers stopped a Bolero vehicle, registered under the number TO22-2-5895, traveling from Kangra towards Pathankot.
The vehicle was searched at around 4:30 AM during routine Nankabdi checks, leading to the recovery of 43 boxes containing a total of 516 bottles of country liquor, valued at approximately Rs 3,87,000. This substantial seizure marks a key victory in the local police’s ongoing battle against illegal substances and contraband.
SP Nurpur Ashok Ratna stated that the seized vehicle and liquor have been taken into custody, and a case has been registered against the driver, Devraj, son of Ratilal, a resident of Dhaneti. He was arrested under Section 39 (1) of the H.P. Excise Act, case number 83/24 dated 11/05/24 at police station Jwali. The police continuing investigation and further actions are being undertaken according to legal provisions.
This action highlights the intensified efforts by the district police to curb illegal activities, especially during the critical period of the elections, ensuring law and order are maintained.
