Chief Minister: Lahaul Spiti Culture Not for Sale
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwindar Singh Sukhu visited Kelang in Lahaul Spiti district on Sunday in relation to the upcoming Assembly elections. During his visit, he interacted with local Congress leaders, officials, and workers regarding the election scenario. The Chief Minister emphasized that the culture of Lahaul Spiti’s people is not for sale. He expressed his stance against re-electing corrupt legislators, highlighting that his fight is not for the chair but for the common people. He stated that he is fighting against mining mafias, land mafias, and drug abuse.
Anti-Corruption Stance and Electoral Strategy
Chief Minister Sukhu reiterated his commitment to fighting corruption and emphasized the need to uphold honesty in politics. He criticized legislators who have compromised their integrity and values for personal gain. He highlighted the importance of the upcoming elections in safeguarding democracy and preventing attempts to destabilize the government.
Development Initiatives and Political Allegations
The Chief Minister underscored his efforts to eradicate corruption and promote development in the region. He accused opposition parties, particularly the BJP, of attempting to manipulate the election results through unethical means. He emphasized the government’s initiatives to introduce English medium education from the primary level to empower the state’s children to represent the country effectively.
Congress Candidate Panel Preparation
The Congress party has prepared a potential panel of candidates for Lahaul Spiti, including prominent figures like Anuradha, Rajesh Sharma, Ratan Baudh, Dorje Larje, former MLA Radhuveer Thakur, Kunga Baudh, and Raptan Baudh. The final decision on candidate selection will be made by the Congress high command.
