Chandigarh, December 4: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Naib Singh Saini, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his significant efforts to support farmers and improve their financial well-being. Speaking to the media at New Delhi Railway Station after traveling from Chandigarh to Delhi by Shatabdi Express, the Chief Minister highlighted the benefits of various schemes introduced by the Prime Minister.
The Chief Minister emphasized that under the current government, farmers are now receiving full compensation in case of crop failure, a stark contrast to the previous Congress government when compensation ranged from just Rs. 5 to Rs. 10. He mentioned that the Kisan Samman Nidhi, which provides an annual assistance of Rs. 6000 to farmers, has been a game-changer in helping them with seed and fertilizer purchases.
Further, Saini addressed the misinformation spread by the Congress party regarding the MSP (Minimum Support Price) on crops. Contrary to Congress’ claims that MSP would be abolished, the Chief Minister confirmed that under PM Modi’s leadership, MSP for crops has been increased by one and a half times. The government now ensures the purchase of every grain of the farmers’ crops at MSP.
Talking about irrigation, Mr. Saini shared that under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, the area under irrigation has increased by 1.5 times since 2014, leading to improved crop yields and greater farmer incomes. The area under paddy, wheat, and other crops has significantly expanded, contributing to overall agricultural growth in the state.
