Punjab BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar Criticizes AAP Government Over Scandals and Governance Failures
Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, accusing it of significant moral and administrative failures. Speaking at a press conference in Jalandhar on Tuesday, Jakhar highlighted the recent scandal involving the state’s Local Government Minister Balkar Singh, whose obscene video went viral. Jakhar condemned the incident, stating, “We are part of a civilized society where such actions are intolerable. Whether rich or poor, everyone values their dignity.”
Jakhar questioned Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s silence on the issue, asserting, “My concern is not just with a minister but with the CM, who remains silent on this matter. If a CM cannot manage his own team, how will he protect the dignity of the state’s mothers and sisters?”
Jakhar demanded strict action against Balkar Singh and called on CM Mann to take responsibility. He also referenced the recent incident involving Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal, suggesting that these events reveal the true face of AAP. “These incidents have exposed AAP’s true character,” he declared.
Jakhar went on to criticize the AAP government for failing Punjab on multiple fronts. He argued that the state’s financial health, law and order, and developmental progress have all suffered under the current administration. “The Mann government has done nothing to resolve farmers’ issues,” he added.
Addressing the protests against BJP candidates in rural areas, Jakhar claimed that these demonstrations were orchestrated by AAP, Congress, and Shiromani Akali Dal supporters, not genuine farmers. “These politically motivated protests are causing trouble for traders and common people. The divide between farmers and traders is growing, which is harmful for Punjab’s development,” he said. Jakhar emphasized the critical role of both farmers and traders in Punjab’s economy and accused CM Mann of creating mistrust between them, leading to significant financial losses for the state.
Jakhar also shared that he had discussed Punjab’s critical issues, such as drug trafficking and farmer distress, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He lamented that the public’s trust in AAP, which won them 92 seats, has been betrayed. “People expected Mann to address their problems, but instead, the state has seen a rise in drug trafficking and gang activity. The promises of employment and reducing youth migration remain unfulfilled,” Jakhar criticized.
Highlighting the decline of Jalandhar’s sports and leather industries, once renowned globally, Jakhar accused the Mann government of neglecting these sectors. “Law and order have deteriorated. CM Mann’s promises of a responsive government that would act on a single call have proven false,” he asserted.
Jakhar concluded by urging the people of Punjab to vote wisely in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing that only the BJP can provide strong leadership and effective solutions to the state’s myriad problems. “The BJP is the only party capable of addressing Punjab’s challenges and providing robust governance,” he affirmed.
