Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Urges Development of Tourism in Kandi Area
Chandigarh, June 28:
In a meeting of the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB), Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasized the need for concerted efforts to promote tourism in the kandi area of Punjab. He directed the state government officials to focus on developing areas around Ranjit Sagar Dam, Shahpur Kandi Dam, and the Kandi areas of Hoshiarpur district as attractive tourist destinations.
Expressing his disappointment over the neglect of these areas by previous state governments, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann highlighted the untapped potential for tourism in the region, which boasts immense natural beauty. He stressed the importance of harnessing this potential to attract tourists from around the world, thus boosting economic activity and transforming the lives of the local population.
To facilitate tourism development, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann instructed officials to prepare a detailed blueprint for the entire region. He also mentioned that the state government has already approved a water adventure tourism policy to promote water sports, which could be implemented in these areas as well. With improved infrastructure, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann envisioned the region becoming a hub for tourists from across the country and even putting Punjab on the map of international tourism.
The state government is committed to developing these areas and tapping into their natural resources to create ideal tourist destinations. With focused efforts and adequate planning, Punjab aims to unlock the tourism potential of the kandi area and boost its overall growth and development.
