Satauj (Sangrur), October 17: On his birthday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann participated in a large-scale blood donation camp at his native village, where numerous young people generously donated their blood. Mann emphasized the significance of blood donation as a crucial service to society, capable of saving numerous lives. He commended the state’s youth for their exceptional achievements and encouraged them to engage in this act of humanity.
The Chief Minister urged young individuals to become regular voluntary blood donors and motivate their peers to do the same, ensuring an adequate supply of blood for both routine and emergency medical care. Mann emphasized the life-saving potential of every blood donation.
Regarding the upcoming session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Mann assured that it is entirely valid and legal, following consultation with legal experts and in accordance with the Indian Constitution. He highlighted the importance of this two-day session, during which several pro-people bills will be introduced. Mann stressed that the Vidhan Sabha is democratically elected, accountable to the people, and not subject to the whims of any individual.
Mann also discussed the state government’s efforts to combat paddy straw burning, including promoting in-situ management of paddy straw and the use of paddy straw briquettes as fuel in brick kilns. He mentioned that the government has distributed more paddy straw management machines compared to the previous year and is ensuring strict monitoring to prevent straw burning.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to facilitate the smooth and hassle-free procurement of paddy crops in the mandis, emphasizing that farmers will not face any difficulties in selling their produce.
Critiquing opposition leaders for avoiding a scheduled debate on November 1, Mann accused them of deceiving the people and engaging in misdeeds. He stated that these leaders are afraid to face the public because of their involvement in various issues, asserting that the campaign against them will continue.
Mann announced the launch of a decisive anti-drug campaign from Amritsar, mobilizing thousands of youth to pledge their commitment to eradicating drugs from the state. The campaign will target both the supply chain of drugs and the treatment and rehabilitation of drug victims, with the active participation of the people.
Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted efforts to revolutionize healthcare in Punjab, with a focus on enhancing medical services, establishing medical colleges, and upgrading hospitals and healthcare centers.
