Punjab CM Announces Three-Phase Campaign to Clean Buddah Nullah with Nebula Group Expertise

Chandigarh, September 20: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has launched an ambitious, mission-mode campaign to clean Buddah Nullah in Ludhiana, using cutting-edge technology from the world-renowned Nebula Group. During a high-level meeting with the Nebula team, the Chief Minister emphasized that this three-phase, multi-pronged initiative will focus on removing dangerous pollutants, including cancer-causing elements, from the nullah. The ultimate goal is to lower the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in the water to below 100, ensuring it becomes fit for drinking. Nebula Group’s nano-level ozonation technology will play a key role in achieving this target. Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed pride in partnering with Nebula, whose expertise has proven effective in tackling water pollution worldwide. He mentioned that site visits have already been conducted by a team of experts, including officials from Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board, PPCB, and other stakeholders, to assess the scope of the project.

The first phase of the project will involve installing ultrasonic water metering systems to analyze sewage networks and identify sampling points across Ludhiana. Special attention will be given to the city’s dyeing industry, which discharges 95 MLD (million liters daily) of wastewater into Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs). The implementation of pre-treatment plants at these 200 units is expected to significantly reduce pollution levels in the nullah.
In the second phase, the focus will shift to identifying problematic discharge points and installing small-scale effluent treatment systems to improve sewage quality. The third and final phase will emphasize the design and implementation of measures to line the Buddah Nullah, effectively addressing pollution at its source. Throughout these phases, the Nebula Group and the state government will work collaboratively to ensure smooth implementation, maintenance, and operation of the new treatment systems across Ludhiana.

Phase I: Installation of ultrasonic water meters and software modeling for sewage network analysis and identifying sampling points.
Phase I: Pre-treatment plants for 200 dyeing units to manage 95 MLD wastewater discharge.
Phase II: Installation of small-scale effluent treatment systems at problematic discharge points.
Phase III: Design and implementation of Buddah Nullah lining for long-term pollution control.

This campaign represents a bold step by the Punjab government in addressing Ludhiana’s pressing water pollution issues and setting a new benchmark for urban water management.
