Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Praises Police for Foiling Attack on Sukhbir Badal, Focuses on State Security and Global Connectivity

Amritsar, December 4: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann lauded the Punjab Police for their swift action in thwarting an attack on senior Akali leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. Mann commended the security forces for preventing a larger conspiracy aimed at defaming the state during the incident near the sacred Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar.

Speaking at the dedication ceremony of the ‘Nishan-e-Inqlab’ Plaza, CM Mann strongly condemned the attack, stating that such heinous acts have no place near a holy site. Highlighting the state’s proactive measures, he revealed that around 175 policemen, along with senior officers, were already deployed around Sri Harmandir Sahib to ensure peace. Their vigilance, Mann said, played a crucial role in maintaining security and foiling any attempts to tarnish Punjab’s reputation.

The Chief Minister assured that he is closely monitoring the situation and has instructed Punjab DGP to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Reaffirming the government’s commitment to communal harmony, Mann emphasized that Punjab, known as the land of gurus, saints, and martyrs, has always been a beacon of peace. He stressed that maintaining harmony remains the government’s top priority and that any attempts to disrupt it will be dealt with firmly.

Shifting focus to infrastructure and global connectivity, CM Mann reiterated the state government’s commitment to initiating international flights from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Airport in Mohali and Shri Guru Ramdas Airport in Amritsar. He underscored the need for enhanced infrastructure at these airports to facilitate international travel, benefiting Punjabis residing abroad by saving time, money, and energy. The Chief Minister assured that the government is leaving no stone unturned to expedite the process for the convenience of the diaspora.
