Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the Union Budget on Saturday, accusing the central government of neglecting the border state once more. He described the budget as an “election budget” with focus solely on Bihar, claiming that Punjab has been left out of any significant provisions.
Mann, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), criticized the budget for failing to address the pressing needs of Punjab’s farmers and youth. In a post on social media platform X, he pointed out that the Union government had not announced a minimum support price (MSP) for crops, nor had it introduced any package to support the state’s industrial growth.
“The Union government has not provided anything for Punjab’s farmers or its youth,” Mann stated. “There are no provisions for MSP on crops, and the state has received no package to boost its industries. Punjab has been offered nothing that can enhance its economy or future prospects,” he added.
The chief minister further criticized the central government for offering no substantial help to the state, reiterating that the Union Budget primarily focused on elections in Bihar. He stated, “This budget is a political move, aimed only at Bihar. Once again, Punjab and its people have been treated unfairly.”
Despite the lack of support from the central government, Mann emphasized that Punjab would not remain dependent on external aid and would strive to become self-reliant. “We will make Punjab stand on its own feet,” he concluded, vowing to push forward with the state’s progress.
