Punjab CM reiterates commitment to develop Bathinda into a ‘model district’

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday reiterated the state government’s commitment to develop Bathinda into a ‘model district’. He chaired a meeting with MLAs and officers to review the progress of various ongoing projects in the district and said that it will be equipped with ultra-modern facilities.

The Chief Minister also announced that the state government will soon launch a pilot project in Bathinda district to tackle the menace of stray cattle. He said that the nearly 1000 acres of land where the fly ash of Guru Nanak Thermal Plant was dumped is lying vacant and needs to be utilised for the benefit of the people of the town. He asked the departments of Housing, Urban Development, and Industries to jointly chalk out a detailed proposal for using this land optimally in the larger public interest.

Bhagwant Mann said that Bathinda is a major town of the state and this prime land can act as a pivot for accelerating the development of the town on one hand and fulfilling the needs of the people on the other.
