Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav Inaugurates Upgraded Cyber Helpline 1930 Call Center and Launches ‘Cyber Mitr’ Chatbot for Financial Fraud Reporting
The Cyber Mittar Chatbot is an innovative initiative of the Punjab Police’s Cybercrime Division, which anyone can access by logging in at “https://cybercrime.punjabpolice.gov.in” to get instant information pertaining to cybercrime prevention and reporting queries.
Cyber Mittar Chatbot offers several key benefits, including 24/7 support, allowing citizens to reach out at their convenience, rather than being limited to police station hours. It provides a safe and non-judgmental space for reporting cybercrimes or seeking help. Additionally, the chatbot communicates in various languages, including the vernacular language of Punjab, breaking down language barriers.
Chandigarh, October 14: Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav today inaugurated the upgraded ‘Cyber Helpline 1930’ call center and launched the ‘Cyber Mitr’ chatbot to assist the public in reporting cyber financial frauds and accessing information on cyber crimes. The helpline, operational in Punjab since September 2021, is part of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) initiative, which helps freeze funds in fraud cases. DGP Yadav emphasized that these innovations will enhance reporting efficiency and provide swift resolutions for financial fraud victims. The chatbot, accessible on the Punjab Police cybercrime website, will soon be integrated with WhatsApp to improve accessibility. So far, Punjab has received over 26,625 complaints via the helpline, successfully freezing ₹57 crore in fraudulent funds. ADGP V. Neerja briefed DGP Yadav about recent cybercrime measures, including the establishment of 28 new cyber police stations in March 2024, leading to 205 FIRs.
