In a significant Diwali gift to the people of Punjab, the state’s Chief Minister, Bhagwant Singh Mann, announced the abolition of the No Objection Certificate (NOC) requirement for the registration of plots. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, while expressing his gratitude, thanked Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria for his consent to the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation (Amendment) Act, 2024. The amendment, passed by the Punjab assembly on September 3, 2024, received the Governor’s approval today. This new legislation eliminates the mandatory NOC requirement for the registration of land deeds, a practice that had long posed challenges for small plot owners and individuals caught up in unauthorized developments.

Bhagwant Singh Mann emphasized that the primary goal of this amendment is to impose stricter control over illegal colonies that have sprung up across the state, while simultaneously offering relief to individuals who own smaller plots of land. By abolishing the need for an NOC, the government seeks to address a widespread issue that has caused undue stress and delays for the general public.
