Punjab Government Announces Enhanced Financial Assistance for Soldiers, Families of Martyrs and Ex-servicemen

The Punjab government has announced enhanced financial assistance for soldiers, families of martyrs, and ex-servicemen. This includes doubling the ex-gratia grant for disabled soldiers and increasing the financial assistance to those parents whose only child or two to three children had served in the Indian Army during the Second World War, National Emergency 1962, and 1971.

The government has also launched a QR code to make digital contributions to the Flag Day Fund. This initiative is aimed at making it easier for people to contribute to the welfare of soldiers and their families.


  • Ex-Gratia to next of kin of martyred jawans of state enhanced from Rs.50 lakh to Rs.1.00 crore.
  • Ex-gratia grant of Disabled Soldiers both from Military and Para-Military force with disability from 76% to 100% doubled to Rs.40 Lakh.
  • Disabled soldiers with 51% to 75% disability to receive Rs.20 Lakh and disabled soldiers with 25% to 50% disability to receive Rs.10 Lakhs.
  • Financial assistance of 83 beneficiaries under “The East Punjab War Awards Act, 1948” enhanced from Rs.10,000 per annum to Rs.20,000 per annum.
  • Cycle rally to be flagged off on December 7, 2023 to spread awareness about the sacrifices made by the soldiers of Punjab and to create inspiration and patriotism among the youth.
  • QR Code launched to make digital contribution to the Flag Day Fund.

The Minister also urged the people to make maximum contribution for Flag Day through online process.

The Punjab government’s commitment to the well-being of soldiers and their families is commendable. These announcements will go a long way in supporting those who have served the country with dedication and sacrifice.

In addition to the financial assistance, the government is also taking steps to raise awareness about the sacrifices made by soldiers and to create inspiration and patriotism among the youth. The cycle rally to be flagged off on December 7, 2023 is one such initiative.
