Punjab govt to start e-vehicle service in Ludhiana and Jalandhar and e-auto service in Amritsar – Chief Minister Mann

Taking a big step towards introducing environment-friendly public transport in the state, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today approved the launch of e-vehicle services from Ludhiana and Jalandhar and e-auto services from Amritsar as pilot projects.
Presiding over a meeting here today to review various development projects in 47 cities of the state, the Chief Minister said that apart from providing good public transport facilities to the people, these facilities will also play an important role in protecting the environment.
He said that e-vehicle service will be started in Ludhiana and Jalandhar and e-auto service in Amritsar as a pilot project. Bhagwant Mann expressed the hope that these modes of public transport will also be very helpful in solving the traffic problem in these cities.
The Chief Minister further said that with the aim of solving the problem of stray animals, the state government will soon start a pilot project in Bathinda and Patiala districts. He said that this will give great relief to the people as it will help to save their precious lives. Bhagwant Maan said that the lives of people are in great danger due to fatal road accidents caused by stray animals.
The Chief Minister further said that the state government has for the first time implemented a project to assess the need for work through ‘Artificial Intelligence’ to find out the need to complete any development work. He said that it has been started as a pilot project in Amritsar. Bhagwant Mann said that this model will also be implemented in other districts to ensure development works on the basis of need in the state.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the proposed projects of more than 1000 crore rupees to be implemented in different cities and said that this will boost the development of these cities. He said that 762.45 crore rupees project will ensure 100 percent water supply through canals in 47 cities. Bhagwant Mann said that the work on this major project is likely to start by August this year.
