Chandigarh/Amritsar, March 6:
On the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, under the campaign against anti-social elements, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police achieved great success and solved the mystery of the case by arresting two accused in the gun house theft case. The police have recovered 12 weapons including 21 cartridges from their possession. This information was given by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here today.
The arrested persons have been identified as Ajit Singh alias Golu (19) resident of Uttar Pradesh district Unnao, who was currently staying at Kot Harnam Das, Amritsar and Mandeep Kumar alias Wada (20) resident of village Khaparkhedi, Amritsar Rural. The recovered weapons include 9 double barrel guns, three pump action (SBBL) guns and one kirch (sharp weapon).
According to information, on the intervening night of February 21 and 22, some unknown persons stole ammunition, coins and some cash from the Royal Gun House in Amritsar.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that at least 10 teams of CIA staff-1 and 2 of Amritsar Commissionerate were formed, which conducted technical and scientific investigations and chased the accused for more than 1000 km across five states/UTs. arrested
Giving more information in this regard, CP Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that DCP City Dr. Police teams under ADCP City-2 Prabhjot Singh Virak and ADCP Detective Navjot Singh led by Pragya Jain and DCP Detective Harpreet Singh Mander thoroughly investigated the complex case and pursued the accused persons, who feared arrest on the day of the incident. Flee from Punjab and visited Chandigarh, Panipat, Delhi, Agra, Ayodhya and Haryana/U.P before returning to Amritsar. went
He said that the preliminary investigation has revealed that after committing the incident, the accused had dug a pit near Railway Track, Sabji Valla Mandi and hid the weapon and the round coin safely.
The CP said that the arrested accused Ajit Kumar alias Golu along with his accomplices had stolen 4.2 kg of gold from the area of ​​Police Station B Division Amritsar in October 2023. He further informed that further investigation of this matter is going on.
In this regard, FIR No. 25 dated 22-2-2024 has been registered under Section 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code at Thana Civil Line, Amritsar.
