Punjab Police Cracks Down on Narco-Terror Module; Two Arrested for Islamabad Police Station Grenade Attack

In a significant development, the Punjab Police’s State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar has dismantled a narco-terror module linked to foreign-based handlers, leading to the arrest of two key suspects. According to Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, the arrested individuals confessed to their involvement in a grenade attack on the Islamabad Police Station in Amritsar.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Gurjeet Singh, from Dande in Gharinda, Amritsar, and Baljit Singh, from Chhapa in Tarn Taran. In their possession, police teams recovered substantial evidence including 1.4 kg of heroin, one hand grenade, and two sophisticated pistols—a 9MM Zigana and a 9MM Glock—along with ammunition.

This breakthrough occurred just over ten days after the grenade attack on December 17, 2024, which was claimed by Jeevan Fauji, a foreign operator associated with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) via social media. DGP Yadav revealed that intelligence indicated a USA-based drug smuggler, Sandeep Singh alias Seepu, is orchestrating a significant smuggling network that moves drugs and weapons from Pakistan into India.

Acting on this intelligence, the SSOC swiftly apprehended Gurjeet Singh, discovering heroin in his possession. Further investigation linked him to Baljit Singh, with both men reportedly executing the grenade assault under the directive of a yet-to-be-identified foreign handler introduced by Seepu.

As investigations progress, authorities are working to uncover the terrorist organization behind the Islamabad Police Station attack, as well as tracing previous drug and weapon consignments associated with the suspects. A new FIR (No. 74 dated December 26, 2024) has been registered at SSOC Amritsar, initiating proceedings under various sections of the NDPS Act, Arms Act, and Explosive Act.
