Punjab Police’s Dedication to Create a Crime-Free State Aligned with CM Bhagwant Singh Mann’s Vision
On October 11, 2023, Punjab Police arrested three members of a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)-backed terror module that was planning to carry out target killings in the state. The module was being operated by Harpreet Singh alias Happy, a close aide of designated terrorist Harwinder Singh alias Rinda.
The arrests were made following a tip-off and a special naka was laid in the Ajnala area of Amritsar district. The arrested persons were identified as Jaswinder Singh, Lovepreet Singh, and Gurpartap Singh, all residents of village Ramdas in Amritsar.
During the search, police recovered two .32 bore pistols along with three magazines and 11 live cartridges, one Maruti Swift car, and one Splendor motorcycle from their possession.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the module was tasked with carrying out target killings in the state to create panic in the society. The accused were also radicalizing the youth and motivating them to carry out anti-national activities.
The Police have invoked sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and further investigations are on.
The arrest of these three terrorists is a major blow to organized crime in Punjab and comes amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a crime-free state launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
The BKI is a Sikh separatist group that was designated as a terrorist organization by the Indian government in 1992. The group has been responsible for a number of violent attacks in Punjab and other parts of India over the years.
The arrest of these three terrorists is a significant achievement by the Punjab Police and it shows their commitment to making Punjab a safer place for its citizens.
