Punjab Police Vows to Protect Oil and Gas Assets: Mock Drills, Strong Network, and Zero Tolerance

The Punjab Police have reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the state’s critical oil and gas infrastructure. In a recent meeting of the Onshore Security Coordination Committee (OSCC), senior officials discussed various measures to enhance security, including:

  • Special Mock Drills/Operations: Focused on Bathinda and Jalandhar refineries, these drills will simulate real-world scenarios and test the preparedness of security forces.
  • Strong Information Network: Timely intelligence sharing and collaboration with stakeholders like BSF, CRPF, and Fire Department will be crucial in preventing oil theft and pipeline leakages.

The meeting, held under the chairmanship of ADGP Security SS Srivastava on behalf of DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, saw participation from representatives of various oil and gas companies (GAIL, IOCL, HPCL, etc.), intelligence agencies, and law enforcement bodies.

ADGP Srivastava emphasized the importance of proactive measures and assured complete support from the Punjab Police to oil and gas companies. He encouraged them to reach out for any assistance needed, reiterating the force’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of these vital assets.

The presentation by GAIL officials highlighted the positive impact of the collaborative efforts. They commended the Punjab Police for their support, resulting in zero incidents related to oil and gas security in the past two years.

The OSCC meeting also served as a platform to discuss Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), CCTV surveillance, drone monitoring, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. By fostering strong communication and collaboration, stakeholders aim to tackle emerging challenges and ensure the smooth operation of the oil and gas sector in Punjab.
