PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO Lays Foundation Stone for Four-Lane Railway Over Bridge worth Rs 70 Crore
With construction of Kakka Kandyala RoB residents of Tarn Taran constituency will get huge relief from traffic issues- Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal
Tarn Taran/Chandigarh, September 22
In a significant move to alleviate the growing traffic woes on the Tarn Taran-Amritsar old road, Punjab Public Works and Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO laid the foundation stone for a four-lane over bridge at the A-25 railway line crossing (Kakka Kandyala railway crossing) today in the presence of MLA Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal.
Interacting with media on this occasion, the PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO highlighted the increasing traffic problems in the historical city of Tarn Taran, which attracts lakhs of pilgrims visiting Sri Darbar Sahib, Tarn Taran. He said that the construction of the four-lane railway over bridge, valued at approximately Rs 70 crore, will span 770 meters in length and 5.5 meters in width. He said that the project would be completed within one and a half years, bringing much-needed relief to commuters.
Minister ETO also praised MLA Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal’s development initiatives in his constituency. Meanwhile, Dr. Sohal expressed gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO for fulfilling the long-standing demand for a railway over bridge. The MLA emphasized that thousands of pilgrims visiting Sri Darbar Sahib faced difficulties due to traffic congestion.
In addition to the over-bridge project, Dr. Sohal announced plans for city beautification, including new parks, LED light installations, and removing the garbage dump on Sachkhand Road. He also mentioned that the government has been approached to construct a railway over bridge on the Jandiala Road railway line. He expressed confidence that this demand would also be fulfilled soon.
In his concluding remarks, the PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that this infrastructure upgrade has been aimed to enhance connectivity, reducing congestion, and improve the overall experience for pilgrims and residents of the region.
