Rahul Gandhi Appointed Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha After 10 Years!
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been appointed as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, as confirmed in a letter sent to Pro-tem Speaker Bhartruhari Mahtab by Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi. The decision came after a meeting of the floor leaders of the INDIA bloc at Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence. Senior party leader KC Venugopal informed reporters about the appointment following the meeting. Rahul Gandhi, a five-term MP currently representing the Rae Bareli constituency, took his oath of office on Tuesday while holding a copy of the Constitution. This appointment marks the return of the Congress party to the position of opposition leader in the Lok Sabha after a decade. As the single largest opposition party, Congress’s move to appoint Gandhi underscores their strategic positioning in the parliament. This development highlights the party’s intent to play a pivotal role in the legislative process and hold the government accountable.
