Rahul Gandhi pays obeisance at Golden Temple

Former Indian National Congress (INC) president Rahul Gandhi paid obeisance at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Monday. This was a private visit for Gandhi, who arrived at the Sri Guru Ramdas International Airport at 10:00 AM and went directly to the Golden Temple.

During his visit, Gandhi not only paid obeisance, but also performed seva at the Golden Temple, helping with the washing of utensils, langar, and jodas. The police have put up a tight security cordon in view of Gandhi’s arrival.

No Congress leader was seen accompanying Gandhi during his private visit. Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and district Congress committee (DCC) president Ashwani Pappu had obtained permission from the deputy commissioner to receive Gandhi at the airport, along with opposition leader Pratap Singh Bajwa, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Sukhi Randhawa, Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Inderbir Singh Bolaria, and rural district chief Harpreet Ajnala. However, the program was canceled after orders came from the high command.
