Rajasthan Bridges the Gap: Ram Setu Overbridge Eases Traffic and Boosts Safety in Balotra
Balotra, Rajasthan: In a major infrastructure boost for Rajasthan, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Ram Setu railway overbridge in Balotra on January 21st, 2024. Spanning 2km and built with two lanes at a cost of Rs 102 crore, the bridge stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to improving connectivity and safety in the state.
Easing Traffic Woes: Prior to the bridge, Balotra residents faced daily traffic congestion at level crossings, particularly from heavy vehicles passing through the city. The Ram Setu overbridge now provides a smooth bypass, significantly reducing traffic jams and improving travel times.
Enhancing Safety: The bridge also addresses safety concerns by eliminating the risk of accidents at level crossings. This is especially crucial for the movement of heavy vehicles, which can now navigate the city without posing a threat to pedestrians and other vehicles.
Rajasthan’s Infrastructure Drive: The Ram Setu overbridge is just one example of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Rajasthan’s road network. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, who participated in the virtual inauguration, reiterated the government’s commitment to issuing timely approvals for projects like ring roads, bridges, and overbridges along key expressways like Mumbai-Delhi and Jamnagar-Amritsar.
