The BJP has attacked the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh over the recently announced relief package of Rs 4500 crore. BJP leader Jairam Thakur alleged that the package was not possible without the help of the central government and that the Congress government was lying about it.
Thakur said that Rs 1000 crore of the relief package will be spent on MGNREGA, which is a central government scheme. He also said that the central government has approved the construction of 6500 houses, with a budget of over Rs 100 crore. In addition, Himachal Pradesh has received Rs 364 crore and Rs 190 crore from the NDRF.
Thakur alleged that the Congress government was picking and choosing people to benefit from the relief package and was trying to benefit only its supporters. He said that all eligible people should benefit from the relief package, regardless of their political affiliation.
Thakur said that the Congress government has failed in the last 10 months. He said that the government has not reinstated people who were fired during the COVID-19 pandemic, HPTC employees are not being paid their salaries, and cement prices have been increased.
He said that the Congress government should not talk about guarantees, as it does not have the capacity to fulfill them.
The BJP’s attack on the Congress government comes at a time when the state is facing a number of challenges, including a financial crisis, high unemployment, and rising inflation. The relief package announced by the Congress government is seen as an attempt to address some of these challenges, but the BJP’s attack suggests that the party is not convinced by the government’s measures.
The BJP is also trying to capitalize on the growing discontent among the people with the Congress government. The party is hoping that by attacking the government’s relief package, it can gain more support in the upcoming elections.
