Renowned TV presenter Gitanjali Aiyar, who was one of the first English news presenters on Doordarshan and had dedicated over 30 years of her career to the national broadcaster, passed away on Wednesday, June 7. Joining Doordarshan in 1971, she left an indelible mark on the industry and was honored with the Best Anchor Person award four times during her illustrious tenure.

Gitanjali Aiyar’s exceptional work, achievements, and contributions were recognized and acknowledged when she received the prestigious Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award for Outstanding Women in 1989. Notably, she held the position of Head of Major Donors at World Wide Fund, India.
