In a pivotal development commencing on the morning of December 30, 2023, a significant strike unfolded at the IOC dispatch terminal in Pekhuwala, Una. This disruption extended to the terminals in Nalagarh, housing HPCL and BPCL respectively, featuring two categories of tankers: those affiliated with transport unions and others operated by dealers.
Strategic Measures Implemented:
Diligent efforts have been underway, spearheaded by the vigilant Deputy Commissioners of Solan and Una, who are actively engaged in ongoing discussions with the involved transporters. Notably, the dynamic intervention of Sh. Man Mohan Sharma, DC, Solan, and SP Solan, Baddi, resulted in the dispatch of 43 tankers from Nalagarh HPCL terminal to various districts on the night of January 1, 2024. Today, an impressive 750 KL/65 vehicles have been dispatched until 4:00 PM, effectively addressing the crisis.
Simultaneously, at the Una terminal, Sh. Raghav Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, and his dedicated police team orchestrated the dispatch of 116 dealers’ vehicles today, fortified with proper police escort. Tomorrow promises further dispatches across the state, ensuring a sustained supply chain.
Mitigation of Dead Stock:
Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, a proactive approach has been taken to reduce dead stock at petrol pumps. As of today, each pump maintains 2000 liters, with a directive to lower it to 1000 liters, thereby enhancing product availability.
R K Gautam, IAS, Director of FCS&CA in Himachal, Shimla, underscores the concerted efforts and strategic measures taken to navigate through this challenging period, assuring residents of a resilient and responsive system in place.
