The Himachal Pradesh government has taken a groundbreaking step to revolutionize healthcare in Kangra and Shimla districts by introducing robotic surgery systems at Tanda Medical College and AIMSS Chamiyana. This state-of-the-art technology, backed by a cabinet-approved budget of ₹56 crore, reflects Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s vision of transforming the healthcare landscape of the state.
During the winter cabinet meeting held in Dharamshala, ₹28 crore was allocated for installing robotic surgery systems at Tanda Medical College, modeled after AIIMS Delhi. This advanced surgical technology promises to provide unparalleled precision, safety, and efficiency in critical specialties like urology, general surgery, gynecology, cardiothoracic surgery, and gastroenterology. Patients from Kangra, Shimla, and neighboring districts will now have access to minimally invasive procedures that offer faster recovery, reduced risk of infections, and shorter hospital stays.
The initiative is set to position Tanda Medical College and AIMSS Chamiyana as leaders in modern healthcare, making Himachal Pradesh a hub for advanced medical treatment. The Chief Minister highlighted the urgency of improving healthcare facilities, revealing that approximately 9.5 lakh patients annually leave the state for diagnostic and treatment services, causing a GDP loss of ₹1,350 crore. By upgrading healthcare infrastructure, the government aims to save precious time and money for patients, while ensuring access to cutting-edge treatment within the state.
This initiative marks a new era for medical care in Himachal Pradesh, promising world-class services and uplifting the overall health standards for its citizens.
