Amritsar (Kumar Soni) – Satish Chandra Dubey, Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, addressed a series of important topics during his visit to Amritsar. Along with District President Harvinder Singh Sandhu, Dubey paid obeisance at the Harmandir Sahib before engaging with local traders, lawyers, and community leaders to listen to their concerns.
In a press interaction held at the BJP office, Dubey responded to questions from the media regarding the electricity cuts in Punjab, which the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has attributed to the central government. He stated that the central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, ensures that there is no shortage of coal for any state, and the distribution of coal is based on the state’s requirements and payments. Refuting the claims made by the Punjab government, Dubey pointed out that AAP is misleading the public with false narratives.
During the briefing, Dubey emphasized the BJP-led government’s commitment to farmers and their welfare. The Union government’s decisions, according to him, are aimed at improving the agricultural sector, providing economic relief to the middle class, and creating opportunities for youth. As part of the 2025-26 budget, the government has allocated funds for several key initiatives in agriculture, including the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhan Yojana, which will benefit around 1.7 crore farmers across 100 districts. Additionally, the government has increased the limit of the Kisan Credit Card to 5 lakh rupees, providing financial aid to approximately 8 crore farmers. The Cotton Production Mission will offer support to cotton producers over the next five years, and a special board has been formed for the promotion of Makhana cultivation to boost the income of Makhana farmers.
Dubey also outlined the government’s efforts to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Under the new budget, young entrepreneurs will be able to access credit cards with a limit of 5 lakh rupees for micro-enterprises, with a focus on industries that can generate employment. The government has increased the MSME guarantee limit from 5 crore rupees to 10 crore rupees, and the limit for startups has been raised from 10 crore to 20 crore rupees. Special focus has also been placed on the leather industry and the toy manufacturing sector, which will create millions of jobs and contribute to both domestic needs and exports.
In his address, Dubey also highlighted initiatives in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. The government is set to expand the capacity of IITs and establish high-quality labs in 50,000 schools. There will be a significant push for Artificial Intelligence with a dedicated budget of 500 crore rupees for the creation of a top-tier institute. Moreover, the healthcare sector will benefit from an increase in the number of medical seats, aiming to address the shortage of doctors in the country. The Jal Jeevan Mission is set to ensure clean water for every household by 2028.
Dubey further discussed the government’s efforts to benefit the middle class, announcing that income up to 12 lakh rupees will be exempt from taxes. This measure, according to him, is aimed at providing relief to the common man.
On his visit, Satish Chandra Dubey interacted with traders and lawyers, hearing their concerns and offering solutions. He participated in the meeting at the Income Tax Bar Association and shared details about the government’s tax-related initiatives, seeking feedback to further enhance these programs. Dubey also attended the Divya Jagriti Institute’s program and witnessed the retreat ceremony at the India-Pakistan international border at Wagah.
The minister’s visit underscores the central government’s commitment to improving the economic and social infrastructure in Punjab and other parts of the country, with a focus on the welfare of farmers, youth, and the middle class.
